Is there a language barrier?
Are you sure he's French? Perhaps he's from Alsace-Lorraine or Monaco.

Yes, I suspect there might be a language barrier. We thought she was partially deaf at first... but turns out she just listens when it's convenient for her.
HEH! Great face!
Give her some *SKRITCHIES* from Texas!

Will do. She loves her some skritches!
As Tim Gunn would say ...

Hehehe, that is a good way to put it. It's an easy face to fall in love with, very expressive.
What a great face.
Friend of mine in Palm Springs had an Italian Mastiff. Jet black with freaky ice blue eyes. He looked fearsome but was one of the softest dogs I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Wow, that Italian Mastiff sounds cool-looking. Yes, Lola is quite impressive/fearsome as well, but in reality she's very gentle and relaxed. Especially around people... she loves being part of a human pack, and would be fine sleeping at your feet all day.
Other dogs are more of an issue, but that might just be *us* more than *her*. She's 2.5 years old, but we have only had her for a month or two, so we're still learning her body language. She is used to being off-leash as well, and that adds some aggravation in the mix when we need to have her on-leash (like, all the time outside our property). But we're a little wary of her 'playing' with other dogs when she could probably snap a neck pretty easily, you know? At around 110 lbs, she'd be hard to control if she really got into a scrap.
