Netflix
Butch and I have a 4-at-a-time netflix subscription.  He gets two, and I get two... works out nicely.

If you'd like to be my friend on NetFlix (so we can exchange reviews and notes on movies an stuff) clicky here:

and that'll connect us.  (My nickname on netflix is "Kodiak")

We're considering working through the Lost series.  We have been fans off and (mostly) on, but knowing what we know now it would be fun to go back and fill in some blanks.  The quality is better than what we get on our TiVo, plus there are no commercials (and possibly wide-screen video?).  Sounds like a good end-of-winter viewing goal.

Hey, I think we're up for that. I'll chat with the guys to see what they think. Beemer's really into lots of British shows (Dr. Who, Black Books, Spaced, etc.), Greg likes forensics, law, and murder mystery, and I (not surprisingly) enjoy Asian cinema and quality anime like Ghost in the Shell. Would that work for you?

Hey, it's all good. I am not necessarily looking for exact matches or anything-- I just like to see what people think of different movies, and to maybe discover stuff I never would have found on my own.

(I *love* *love* *love* "Spaced", as well as any other Pegg/Frost collaboration. And I don't know a thing about (good) anime... so I will be interested to see what your top anime pick is.)

Oh, you and Beemer really need to hang out, then. He's obsessive about them, but in a good way.

Okay, I'll look over my netflix account and update it for anime picks, and pester the guys to do the same.

We like it mainly because of no late fees. But, sometimes it works against us too, when we go thru a period of not watching movies... having a movie for a month isn't really "doing it right". :) We have found that it usually takes 2-3 days between mailing one DVD and receiving the next. I know it sounds too fast, but there is a distribution center in Denver, so they don't have to go far.

I have been a member of Netflix since 1999, and as I mentioned we get 4-at-a-time rental. I'm not sure if that's available to new subscribers or not. We pay $17 a month for the service.

We don't have HD on our media room projector (it's old-ish), so we use DVDs w/ dolby surround when we want a "top-end experience". Hey, it's top-end for us, anyway. When we upgrade to HD, we might not feel the need for Netflix anymore, who knows.

[Netflix does have a 2-week trial-- you can cancel any time in those two weeks, and there will be no charge; do nothing and you will enter into their basic plan.]
